These boots were made for walking ................................... but not for a 6 hour hike!
Some people took the easy option, but not us.
Had a couple of walks along the rim then decided to walk down into the Canyon. You can just see all the paths we had to take. Going down was hard but climbing up was even harder.
It was really difficult to choose between all the thousands of photographs we have taken.
Millie was amazed at her first sight of the Grand Canyon.
Part of the journey was on the infamous Route 66.
The Colorado river heading towards the Grand Canyon.
Enjoyed our visit to Les Vegas but time to move on. (Spent too much money on the machines $3)
We spent ages watching the fountains dance to Jazz tunes.
A taste of Paris.
Can you spot the roller-coaster coming out of the hotel?
Everybody said we had to visit Las Vegas, so we did! And it was exactly as they said.

Death Valley was the most fascinating place to visit. When the sun went down it was completely dark and quiet. Just the twinkling of the stars and the howling of the coyotes.
Very dry and still very hot.
After days of climbing now we are 282 feet below sea level at Badwater Basin salt flats.
Stuck!
Next day another climb. This time the Golden canyon and the Red Cathederal
Two old Norfolk people exhausted, not used to heat and hills. (Temperature 100f in shade)
Hiked up the Mosaic Canyon saw more fantastic rock formations.
What can you say?
Sand, sand and more sand but not a sun-bather in sight!
Golden Gate bridge-symbol of San Francisco. We drove over it, we walked over it and we biked over it!

This is the habour at Bodega Bay full of all different species of birds, just like the film.
We have stayed in many different places but this Motel in Bodega bay is one of the quaintest. Bodega Bay is famous for the scary film 'The Birds' by Alfred Hitchcock.
We spent ages watching these tiny humming birds with red throats at Gualala.

Dave had withdrawal symptoms has to have a ride on a horse. Riding through the waves was a bonus. Trouble is he now wants to ride on the beach at Cromer western style.
Driving out of the Redwoods was difficult!
Even the roots were taller than me.
Visited the Redwood National Park. Fantastic, awesome, can describe how inspiring it was to walk amongst the giants who were over 350 feet tall and some as old as 2,000 years.
What little food we had we had to eat sitting underneath a tree containing 5 turkey vultures.
